Oyster Haven Crates are handcrafted cedar oyster crates designed for tidal aquaculture. Unlike plastic crates that crack, break, and shed microplastics into the water, our cedar crates are renewable, durable, and biodegradable. Every crate is made from cedar scraps, putting every part of the tree to use and helping keep plastic out of the ocean.

Plastic has become the standard in oyster farming, but it comes with hidden costs: environmental damage, broken gear, and long-term plastic pollution. Cedar is a natural alternative that protects both your oysters and the environment while remaining practical and strong for everyday farm use.

Oyster Haven Crates began with a simple idea: why should plastic be the default? The concept was inspired by Adam’s oyster farm in North Haven, Maine, where wooden oyster crates were being used as an alternative to plastic. This approach—featured in a video by Acorn to Arabella—showed that a more natural, sustainable solution was not only possible, but effective. That inspiration led us to develop a cedar oyster crate designed specifically for modern tidal aquaculture.
